As a Yard Lead, you are responsible for directing the yard staff to provide the highest levels of accuracy and efficiency. Monitor performance and improve personnel, systems, and procedures. Responsibilities
    Supervise all yard employees.
  • Using a radio-frequency gun (RF) fills, packages and ship acknowledges orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Process incoming product in a timely and accurate manner, checking for damaged products.
  • Understand and be able to determine status of order at any given time.
  • Follow tag and hold procedures for all incoming shipments and keep hold area clear and accessible.
  • Follow any special instructions pertaining to an order.
  • Point out any quality or inventory discrepancy issues to Warehouse Manager or Inventory Control Specialist.
  • Label outbound material with appropriate shipping label.
  • Ensure shipping documents/system match actual quantities/items picked.
  • Route sales orders to accommodate efficiency and customer requests.
  • Ensure that all orders are loaded and secured for efficient, timely delivery processes.
  • Ensure that orders are checked for content and labeling and note any discrepancies.
  • Oversee ship verification process to assure that product on the dock is confirmed.
  • Ensure that all picks are completed, labeled, and loaded accurately.
  • Monitor staff productivity to ensure that trucks are loaded, and deliveries are made in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that systems and procedures are implemented and communicated to staff in a timely manner and are followed consistently.
  • Provide performance plans and feedback for assigned staff to Warehouse Manager
  • Assist the Warehouse Manager in the annual review process for assigned staff timely.
  • Monitor attendance of staff and address issues of concern appropriately and per company policy.
  • Assist the Warehouse Manager in the hiring, developing and performance improvement of assigned staff.
  • Monitor safe and accurate loading or unloading of trucks.
  • Assist in the training of staff on any appropriate MHE used.
  • Answer the telephone in a polite and timely manner; answer questions correctly, take accurate messages or refer the call to the appropriate person.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Ensure the work area is always clean and in safe working conditions.
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the Branch Manager or Regional Operations Manager.
Qualifications
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Good interpersonal, leadership and motivational skills.
  • Computer skills and knowledge and the ability to learn First Supply LLC's business system.
  • Ability to handle a number of tasks at one time
  • Attention to detail
  • Good verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Knowledge of freight companies and prior experience scheduling (preferred)
  • Ability to read map
  • Forklift experience (preferred)
  • Drug test with negative results on employment offer
  • Functional capacities evaluation which demonstrates ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position
  • Ability to be bonded as defined by First Supply Group's fidelity bond insurance carrier
  • Satisfactory score on the Wonderlic Personnel Test and/or Caliper Assessment
  • Valid drivers license and a driving record which meets underwriting standards
  • Ability to read, speak, understand and write English
  • Attendance on a regular and consistent basis
